On 22 October 2022, AQAP militants claimed to have targeted with an IED a vehicle belonging to the STC 3rd Support and Reinforcement Brigade in the Wadi Umaran region (Mudiyah, Abyan) killing 4 STC fighters including the brigade's head of operations and injuring others.
