On 27 October 2022, in Kawkareik town (Kawkareik township, Kawkareik district, Kayin state), the military (LIB-97) stationed in the Hlaing Wa village fired artilleries at around 10 am, hitting a residential area near the Ta Dar U Mosque in the No.7 ward. Khit Thit Media and Radio Free Asia reported that 2 locals were killed and 5 locals were injured. Shwe Phee Myay reported 4 locals were killed and 10 locals were injured. Total fatalities coded as 2 using the lowest estimate.
