On 23 October 2022, in Hpoe Khaung Chaung village (Buthidaung township, Maungdaw district, Rakhine state), the military based in Gu Dar Pyin village carried out a drone attack on the school, where some refugees were taking shelter. Three refugees were injured and the roof of the school was damaged.
