On 20 October 2022, a detainee undertook a suicide bombing with a hand grenade at a checkpoint in Al-Shaqiqah (Al Jabal Al Gharbi, West), killing himself and injuring two policemen. The detainee was mid-transit to a Gharyan prison when he launched his attack.
