According to the police, the bomb found on Tuesday at the Pro site in Leipheim had an explosive mass of 68 kilograms, like the aerial bomb shown here, which had already been found and defused two weeks earlier. On Wednesday morning, the police also reported the defusing of this aerial bomb. The aerial bomb near Leipheim has been defused. The bomb was discovered during excavation work on Tuesday morning at the Pro site in Leipheim, Gustav-Stresemann-Straße. The bomb was defused and the security area was temporarily evacuated on Wednesday morning. Businesses had to stop working, residents had to leave their homes and a school was temporarily closed. After the security area in a radius of 400 metres around the site was closed and cleared without incident from 7.30 a.m. onwards, the aerial bomb was defused by the demolition expert at around 9.40 a.m. on Wednesday, according to the police. Afterwards, the cordon/security and evacuation measures were lifted again. Officers from the Günzburg, Krumbach, Neu-Ulm, Illertissen, Weißenhorn and Neu-Ulm traffic police stations were on duty. A police helicopter was also on the scene. Together with the Leipheim volunteer fire brigade and the rescue service, a total of more than 50 emergency personnel were involved. (pm)
