The 99th battalion of Border Security Force (BSF) from the Company Operating Base (COB) of the BSF at Govindpalli, defused an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) allegedly planted by Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) cadres targeting Security Forces (SFs), during a ‘search and destroy’ operation in Kusumput Forest area at Govindpalli in Malkangiri District of Odisha on October 7, reports odishabytes.com. A Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) from Koraput District was dispatched and it found an IED in a two-liters steel container under a stone and a bundle of wire under another stone approximately 5 metres away. At around 1.30 pm, the team destroyed the IED in situ after taking due precautions. No damages to Government property or injury to any person were reported, an official release said.
