On 12 October 2022, Russian forces struck a Ukrainian Su-24 fighter jet with a rocket after the aircraft had been engaged in fighting in the South. The crew decided to return to their home airfield, but the aircraft crashed in Poltava region (coded to Poltava, Poltava region). One pilot was killed.
