A railway line in East Renfrewshire has closed after an unexploded bomb was discovered close to the line.
Police were called to a construction site on Springfield Road, Barrhead, at around 10am on Thursday.
Network Rail Scotland took to social media to announce that the line between the Neilston and Muirend stations were forced to close after the item was found on a building site near the tracks.
They wrote: "The railway between Neilston and Muirend is closed due to an unexploded bomb being found on a building site close to the line. Local police have implemented an exclusion zone for safety reasons, which includes a section of track."
Police have also created an "exclusion zone" around the track to the public on safety grounds.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Police received a report of an unexploded ordnance having been found at a construction site on Springfield Road in Barrhead around 10.05am on Thursday, September 29, 2022. The road is closed and a cordon is in place. EOD have been contacted."
