On 23 September 2022, PKK militants carried out a remote explosive attack targeting Turkish soldiers in Gunde Sapane area (Kurdish name) in Xakurke (Wadi Khakurik) region of Erbil. HPG (PKK) claimed one Turkish soldier was killed in the attack.
