On 8 September 2022, an attack took place by an unknown drone on a Taliban brigade base in Nahr-i-Saraj (Girishk) district, Helmand. 21 Taliban forces, including the commander of the Taliban brigade base, were killed, and several others were wounded in this drone attack. The Taliban Defense Ministry denied any drone attack in the province and called the reports false and baseless.
