On 5 September 2022, armed drones carried out an airstrike targeting a group of PKK militants near Tarawe village in Balisan valley area in Shaqlawa district of Erbil. HPG (PKK) confirmed 3 PKK militants were killed and 2 other militants were injured in the attack. Turkish sources also reported the killing of 3 PKK militants in an operation carried out by the National Intelligence Organization of Turkey in Khalifan region of Erbil, which is assumed to be the same event.
