On 20 July 2022, an IED planted by an unidentified group on a military vehicle belonging to a lieutenant in the 2nd Giants Brigade exploded near his house in Al Khawkhah city (Taizz). The explosion caused significant material damage but there were no fatalities as the vehicle was empty. This was the second such incident in Al Khawkhah in a week.
