On 20 July 2022, Houthi forces targeted houses with drones and artillery shelling in Khubzah village in the Qayfa region (Wald Rabi, Al Bayda) destroying a number of houses and killing and injuring several civilians. Fatality figures ranged from 3 up to 9 depending on reports. This came after clashes erupted with local tribesmen the day prior following a week-long siege imposed on the village after 3 Houthi fighters were found killed nearby. A Houthi source depicted the situation as a security campaign targeting AQAP presence in the village.
