On July 1, one United Liberation Front of Asom-Independent (ULFA-I) militant was killed in an ongoing encounter Kakopathar area of Tinsukia District in Assam, reports East Mojo. According to official sources, the slain militant identified as Gyan Asom was part of the six cadres team led by commander, Rupom Asom who allegedly had taken shelter at Dapather Majgaon under Kakopathar Police Station (PS). Based on this information, when Security Forces (SF) approached the house, militants started firing and hurled two grenades. In retaliation, two militants were injured. However, only the body of Gyan Asom was recovered, while another militant identified as Rinku Asom is missing. Two bags containing grenades was recovered from the encounter spot. Search operation is underway to nab the other militants.
