On 6 July 2022, a Nigerian Air Force fighter jets targeting a Katsina militia accidentally bombed civilians in Kunkunni village, coded to Safana (Safana, Katsina). Two civilians were killed and 13 to 14 others were wounded, other sources report an unspecified number of fatalities.
