On 2 July 2022, PKK militants attacked Turkish army forces via heavy guns (presumably referring to rocket or artillery weapons) in Gire Sehid Derwes area (Kurdish name) in Xakurke (Wadi Khakurik) region of Erbil province. HPG (PKK) claimed 7 Turkish soldiers were killed.
