On 9 May 2022, the day of the Philippine general election, a mobile phone-detonated IED planted by unidentified assailants exploded near the Kabacan Pilot Elementary School in Barangay Poblacion (Kabacan, Cotabato, Soccsksargen), which was serving as a voting precinct. There were no casualties. Police said that they believed the attack was only meant to sow fear.
