On 9 May 2022, an IED by Al Shabaab militants detonated, targeting government soldiers (SNA) travelling on motorcycle in the vicinity of Buurane village (Jowhar, Middle Shabelle). One soldier was killed and two others were injured. Al Shabaab claimed responsibility.
