A youth identified as Bir Bahadur Katuwal (18), was killed in Police action after a dispute between the two candidates escalated in the polling center at Kalika Secondary School polling station in Katari Municipality-10 in Udayapur District in Province No 1 of Nepal on May 14, reports My Republica. According to Ward Committee member of Communist Party of Nepal-Maoist Centre (CPN-Maoist Center) Arjun Magar, the Police opened fire in the air after the dispute between the two candidates escalated in the polling center. While Bir Bahadur was shot dead, Mohan Shrestha (13), was injured in the incident. The deceased's uncle Gaurav Katuwal was an independent candidate for the post of ward chairman from the Netra Bikram Chand-led Communist Party of Nepal-Maoist (CPN-Maoist-Chand). Bal Bahadur Khatri from the Nepali Congress (NC) and Chhetra Khadka from the Communist Party of Nepal-Unified Marxist-Leninist (CPN-UML) were other candidates for the post. A minor dispute that erupted between these candidates turned into clashes at the polling center.
