On 5 May 2022, ISWAP/ Boko Haram militants ran over an IED between Sabon Gari and Multe while returning from a looting mission along the Nguma (Biu, Borno). The IED was planted by their own militants as a trap for Nigerian troops; six militants were killed, others suffered severe injuries. The bodies of the killed militants were taken away by the others who survived.
