Unexploded device made safe by specialist team from Plymouth after being discovered at an address in Helston Bomb disposal experts were called into action after an old hand grenade was discovered at an address in Helston on Monday evening. Devon and Cornwall Roads Policing Team said that specialists from Bomb Disposal Plymouth were called out after the grenade was unearthed. The weapon was made safe by a controlled detonation and public safety was restored. The roads policing team said in a tweet: "An unearthed old hand grenade led Bomb Disposal Plymouth to attend an address in the #Helston area today. A controlled detonation took place nearby ensuring public safety was restored. Thanks to @FalmouthPolice for their assistance and patience." Two months ago, an unexploded grenade was found by gravediggers in a Milton Keynes cemetery. It was a World War II device that was later detonated in a controlled explosion on sports fields in nearby Bletchley, producing a loud bang that was heard by residents in the surrounding area.
