KABUL, May 21 (Xinhua) -- A blast triggered by an unexploded device has killed a child and injured another in Police District 1 of Ghazni city, the capital of eastern Ghazni province on Friday, the state-run Bakhtar news agency reported Saturday.
Quoting a police official Sayed Ishaq Saleh, the news agency added that the blast was due to an unexploded device left over from the wars and went off when the children were playing with it.
This is the second blast of unexploded ordnances left over from the past wars that claims the lives of innocent children over the past couple of days.
A similar incident in Balablock district of the western Farah province on Tuesday claimed one life and injured two more children.
Unexploded ordnances and devices including anti-personnel mines left from wars in Afghanistan often claim civilian lives.
