On 16 April 2022, in Hpa-An town (Hpa-An township, Hpa-An district, Kayin state), explosions occurred at three pavilions for Thingyan water festival celebrations at around 11 am, 12 pm, and 2 pm respectively. Separately, three explosions occurred near the military cement factory, Hpa-An traditional medicine hospital and Hpa Me mountain. The military and police arrived and inspected the area afterwards. Casualties unknown.
