On 16 April 2022, in Pathein town (Pathein township, Pathein district, Ayeyarwady region), an explosion occurred at a trash bin near the central pavilion for Thingyan water festival celebrations at around 12:45 am. The Myanmar military then blocked the road and checked the CCTV of nearby shops for investigation. There were no casualties.
