On 11 November 2021, a vehicle-borne IED by Al Shabaab suicide bombers detonated, targeting AMISOM UPDF convoy coming from Villa Baydhbo, passing near Banadir Junction in Mogadishu - Wadajir (Banadir). At least three people were killed including two civilians and the suicide bomber and several others were injured including an AMISOM soldier. Al Shabaab claimed killing an American soldier and injuring another (unable to confirm the claim).
