On 3 January 2022, near Lay Kay Kaw, Myawaddy township (Myawaddy district, Kayin State), a landmine planted by the KNLA exploded as the Myanmar military forces were patrolling around Lay Kay Kaw areas. The military then responded and fired heavy weapons at KNLA. Casualties unknown.
