On 7 January 2022, in Santiago de Cali (Valle del Cauca), a truck carrying ESMAD police officers was attacked with a remote explosive device, leaving 13 officers injured, near the Puerto Rellena sector. The Urban War Front of the ELN claimed responsibility for the attack and said it was a retaliation for the killing of their leader in September 2021. There were no fatalities.
