On 17 December 2021, in Aing Taung village (Kani township, Yinmarbin district, Sagaing region), a group of naval vessels, along with two jade tankers, stationed near the village, fired heavy artillery shells into the Aing Taing village and nearby seven villages. 5,000 locals were forced to flee. Casualties unknown.
