On 17 December 2021, in Hnan Khar village, Gangaw township (Gangaw district, Magway region) the Myanmar military forces carried out airstrikes against civilians in Hnan Khar village for allegedly holding meeting of the People's Defense Force (PDF). The military claimed that members of KIA, NUG, and PDF were having meeting in the village and four members of them were killed during the attack but locals said that the report was fabricated. Irrawaddy reported that members of the PDF, CNF/CNA, and YDF attended the meeting. Locals claimed that as many as 20 civilians or YDF members may have been killed but only nine bodies have been retrieved. About 4,000 people were forced to flee to nearby mountains and forests. Fatalities coded as 9.
