On 17 December 2021, in Me Htaw Tha Lay village, Myawaddy township (Myawaddy district, Kayin State), Myanmar military forces fired heavy artillery at civilian populated Me Htaw Tha Lay village at around 10 am. The attack forced local villagers to flee into hiding. There were no casualties.
