IED event in Odisha, Malkangiri District area, India on Fri 31st December 2021

Huge cache of explosives and Communist party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) items were seized during a joint operation by District Police and Border Security Force (BSF) in the general area of Swabhiman Anchal under Jodamba Police limits in Malkangiri District of Odisha, bordering Andhra Pradesh and Odisha, on December 31, reportsommcomnews.com. Reportedly, on the basis of specific information, an intensive search and area domination was conducted by Malkangiri Police and BSF resulting in uncovering of one major Maoist dump near the jungle area in between Taber and Arlingpada village under Jantri Gram Panchayat (village level local self-Government institution). This led to the recovery and seizure of a large quantity of explosives, Maoist literature, medicines, and other incriminating articles. It is suspected that these articles were intended to make Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) and to target civilians and Police Forces. The seized items include 6 tiffin IEDs, two pressure IEDs, one meter codex wire, two number of 7.62 mm ball ammunition, one INSAS (Indian Small Arms System) assault rifle magazine, one IED mechanism, one pair of jungle shoes, one pair of Maoist uniform, one Haversack, one kit bag, one 9-volt battery, one 3-volt battery, five pencil batteries, one green polythene, one mobile charger, two mobile batteries, Maoist’s literature, medicines, and other incriminating and daily use articles.
