On December 17, the self-styled ‘chairman’ of newly formed militant outfit Karbi Democratic Liberation Front (KDLF), identified as Jackson Ronghang was killed in an encounter in Rongmongve area of Karbi Anglong in Assam, reports The Assam Tribune.Following information about the presence of the militants in the Rongmongve area, a search operation was launched. It was during the operation, Ronghang was killed in the gunfight while two other militants fled from the spot. A pistol, several cartridges and some documents were seized from the possession of the slain militant. According to Police sources, KDLF ‘chairman’ along with two other militants were allegedly involved in the abduction of three construction workers.
