On December 14, one man identified as Gaimei Pao was injured when suspected National Socialist Council of Nagaland-Isak-Muivah (NSCN-IM) militants fired on a group of villagers for not accepting their demands at Namdeilong Punji near Chamtilla under the Jirighat Police Station (PS) bordering Manipur-Assam in Cachar District of Assam, reports The Nagaland Post. According to Police sources, the firing started after the villagers disagreed with the demands like to provide accommodation support to the militants. Failing to convince the villagers, the militants then fired on them, injuring Gaimei Pao.
