On May 5 2019, over 690 rockets were fired by the PIJ/Hamas from Gaza into Israel since the beginning of the flare-up. 240 rockets were intercepted by the Iron Dome. A 60-year old Israeli was killed near the settlement of Yad Mordechai, when a kornet anti-tank fire (guided missile) hit his vehicle. An Israeli woman was also seriously injured near Yad Mordechai.
