On 7 December 2021, Burkinabe forces carried out artillery strikes against presumed JNIM militant positions in the area of Yeritagui (Matiacoali, Gourma). Burkinabe and Nigerien military authorities said they killed about 100 militants in operations between 25 November and 9 December. 37 fatalities split across 14 events.
