On 9 December 2021, an improvised bomb planted by unidentified assailants detonated near the boundary of Barangays Limbocandis and Sumisip Central in Sumisip town (Basilan, Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao). No casualty was reported. Authorities said that the bombing could be related to extortion.
