Police along with Security Forces (SFs) arrested two Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) militants at Doomwani village in Shopian District of Jammu and Kahmir (J&K) on December 5 and recovered arms and ammunition from their possession, reports Greater Kashmir. As per a Police handout, the accused duo - Shahid Ahmad Ganie, son of Gulzar Ahmad Ganie, a resident of Doomwani Keegam and his associate Kifayat Ayoub Alie, son of Mohd Ayoub Alie of Pinjoora - was arrested by the Local police along with 44th Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and 14th Battalion of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) during a joint cordon and search operation at Doomwani village. "Incriminating materials", arms and ammunition including one Chinese pistol, a pistol magazine, two Chinese hand grenades, eight pistol rounds were recovered from their possession, besides cash amount of INR 2.9 lakh were also recovered from their possession. Meanwhile, the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha said on December 5 that some elements working at the behest of neighbour in J&K have been identified and the Government will take action against them even as he justified the deployment of additional Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) in Kashmir to end dominance of the militants in certain pockets, reports Daily Excelsior. Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha was speaking at ‘Agenda Aaj Tak’ in New Delhi. Without naming Pakistan, the Lieutenant Governor said: “Neighbour remains a problem. At the same time, there are certain elements here also (Jammu and Kashmir) who have been working at the instance of neighbour. They have been identified. We will take action against them”. Asserting that terror and violence are two separate things. Sinha, in response to a question on local youth joining the militancy, said some misled youth might have joined the militancy but the security forces are working on how to bring them back. To a question on rehabilitation of Kashmiri Pandits back to the Valley, he said the Government is working on a plan which the country will know after three months of winter. He clarified that 6000 jobs and construction of an equal number of houses in Kashmir alone can’t be part of the Rehabilitation Plan for the migrants.
