A Policeman, identified as constable Nazir Khan, deployed to provide security to polio vaccination teams was killed in Kolachi area of Tank District in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) on December 12 after an unidentified gunman opened fire, reports Dawn. District Police Officer (DPO) Sajjad Ahmed said that constable Nazir Khan was assigned to guard polio teams at the Basic Health Unit (BHU) in Kolachi areas bordering Dera Ismail Khan District. "Two policemen were deployed for the security of polio teams at the BHU during the five-day province-wide polio drive," he said, adding that Khan was ambushed outside the health facility. The Nazir Khan left the BHU to visit a nearby shop when he was attacked, the DPO said, adding that the gunman managed to escape.
