On 21 November 2021, CPI-Maoist cadres used explosives to blow up a railway track along the Barkakana-Garhwa line between Demu and Richughutta railway stations under the Garhwa Road Barkakana section (Dhanbad, Jharkhand), in support of a regional 'bandh' (strike) called by the CPI-Maoist party, in agitation against recent deaths of rebels during an encounter with security forces in Gadchiroli. There were no casualties.
