SAA event in Odisha, Junanibahal village under Khaprakhol Police limits in Bolangir District area, India on Sat 27th November 2021

A Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) cadre was killed following an exchange of fire with the Security Force (SF) personnel in forest area near Junanibahal village under Khaprakhol Police limits in Bolangir District of Odisha on November 27, reports The Pioneer. The slain Maoist is identified as Shankar, a key member of the ‘Bolangir-Bargarh-Mahasamund division (BBM) Division' of CPI-Maoist. A Self-Loading Rifle (SLR), some ammunition and other articles were recovered from the encounter spot. As per reports, a team of the Bolangir Police along with the District Voluntary Force (DVF) launched a combing operation after getting information regarding the presence of some Maoists in the area. Director General of Police (DGP), Abhay on November 28 said the ultras initially opened fire at the security personnel and in the retaliatory fire Shankar was killed. “As the operation was carried out in night, we suspect that there were six to eight Maoists, who managed to escape from the spot. Combing operations are continuing in the region,” said DGP, Abhay.
