On 26 January 2022, unknown militants attacked the municipal office building with Molotov cocktails in Baghdad - Sadr city. Only material damages occurred. An Iraqi security source stated the attack was in response to a campaign by the municipality to remove vendor stalls which violate zoning laws in the municipality.
