On 23 January 2022, in Pa Wut Phya village (coded as Pa Wut Kone) (Palaw township, Myeik district, Tanintharyi region), a 28-year-old pregnant mother died at the scene of a landmine accident while walking on a village road at around 5:30 pm with her son. Her six-year-old son later died at the Palaw public hospital. Locals claimed that the military stationed at the Pa Wut Kone planted the landmine.
