On 23 January 2022, near Kyaukhtu town, Saw township (Gangaw district, Magway region), the People's Defense Force - Kyaukhtu launched a mine attack against the military forces, traveling from Kyaukhtu to Shwe Aung Tha village. At least seven military forces died, according to PDF-Kyaukhtu.
