On 22 January 2022, a group of nearly 50 CPI-Maoist cadres blew up a telecom mobile tower in Jamuatand village under Pirtanr police limits (Giridih, Jharkhand), to demand healthcare facilities for a CPI-Maoist leader and his wife who are currently imprisoned. There were no casualties. The Maoists have called for a Jharkhand and Bihar 'Bandh' (strike) on January 27, while from January 21-26 they have called to celebrate 'Pratirod Diwas' (Protest Day).
