Grenade event in Jammu and Kashmir, Srinagar District area, India on Fri 28th January 2022

Militants fired upon a Policeman at SD Colony Batamaloo in Srinagar District of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) on January 28, reports Daily Excelsior. A Police official said that militants fired upon the Police constable at Batamaloo, however, the Policeman escaped unhurt. Soon after the attack, the officer said that the entire area was cordoned off and searches were launched to arrest the militants, but no arrest has taken place as yet. Three persons were arrested by the Indian Army at the Shuhama area of Hadura in Ganderbal District of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) on January 28, reports Daily Excelsior. Indian Army informed, “Joint mobile vehicle check post was established today at Shuhama, Hadura in Ganderbal district. On being signalled to stop, three persons tried to escape but were apprehended along with two pistols, three magazines and two Chinese grenades.” The arrested trio were identified as Faisal Manzoor, resident of Braripora in Shopian, Azhar Yaqoob, resident of Zaipora in Shopain and Nasir Ahmad Dar, resident of Begam in Kulgam. Two Chinese Pistols, 3 Pistol Magazines, 15 rounds of ammunition and two hand grenades besides three mobile phones were recovered. During questioning, the three revealed their affiliation with proscribed outfit Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT)/The Resistance Front (TRF) and indulgence in various terror-related activities in the district.
