On 18 January 2022, near Hmat Taing village, Katha township (Katha district, Sagaing region), two Myanmar military fighter helicopters carried out airstrikes on Paya Kone Pagoda at around 2pm. The airstrikes injured five civilians, including an 8-year-old child, and damaged two pagodas.
