On 19 January 2022, an IED by Al Shabaab militants detonated, targeting a government security forces (NISA) convoy travelling between Ceel Jaale and Belet Weyne town (Belet Weyne, Hiraan). Al Shabaab claimed killing one soldier and injuring another.
