On 21 January 2022, Turkish army drones carried out an airstrike targeting two vehicles carrying YBS militants in Shilo valley (Bab ash Shilu) area in Sinjar district, Ninewa. 2 YBS fighters were killed in the attack, and 2 others were injured. One of the killed fighters was a high-ranking YBS commander.
