On 17 February 2022, presumed JNIM or ISWAP (Greater Sahara) militants fired a rocket that struck a quarter in the town of Arbinda (Arbinda, Soum). A male miner was killed and another person was wounded. The rocket fire also caused significant material damages to houses.
