On 1 March 2022, an explosive (a bomb or a dynamite, based on conflicting reports) planted by unidentified assailants detonated at the parking area of the Mindanao Star bus company in Cotabato City (Maguindanao, Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao). There were no casualties. An unexploded grenade was also found by company employees at the same area earlier that day. The grenade was turned over to authorities. The motive for the attack was unclear, though police said that it was likely meant to scare the bus company.
